Setting Spray Myths: What It Actually Does

Setting spray is the most misunderstood product in the routine. What it does: reduces powderiness, melds layers together so makeup looks like one skin-like surface, and adds modest wear time. What it doesn't do: waterproof your face, replace primer, or "lock" makeup for 16 hours regardless of formula.

The technique matters: hold the bottle 25–30cm away, mist in an X then a T motion, and let it dry untouched. Spraying close creates droplet marks; fanning it dry pushes product around.

The pro alternative for a natural finish: skip the spray and press a barely-damp sponge over powdered areas. Same melding effect, zero product.
