Gua Sha Benefits: What the Evidence Supports — and What It Doesn't
Gua sha and massage tools are everywhere. Separating the evidence from the claims:
What's well supported
Circulation: mechanical massage measurably increases local blood flow — that's the post-massage flush, and it's real. Muscle tension: massage reduces perceived tension and soreness; well documented. Relaxation: deliberate touch activates the parasympathetic nervous system — measurable drops in stress markers.
What's plausible but overstated
Lymph movement: light massage does assist lymphatic flow. But "detox" framing is nonsense — your lymph system isn't clogged, and no stone drains toxins.
What's marketing
Permanent contouring, fat reduction, and collagen "stimulation" from a stone. Effects on appearance are real but temporary — they come from circulation and reduced puffiness.
The honest verdict
Worth doing: it feels good, it visibly freshens skin, and the ritual itself lowers stress. Just buy it for what it does, not for what the caption promised.
The tool and the slip it needs: The Ritual Bundle — £49.90 instead of £89.80.
